Destriping Polarised data

چکیده

Polarisation measurements on the Cosmological Microwave Background (CMB) will be very difficult as the expected polarisation is not expected to exceed 10% of the signal. Therefore, noises of all origins must be searched for and carefully extracted. Low frequency drifts are expected to arise from mechanic, thermal and electronic origin. If not suitably treated they induce stripes on sky maps such as those shown on figure 1. The elimination of low frequency noise has been already studied in the

Fast and precise map-making for massively multi-detector CMB experiments

Future cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarisation experiments aim to measure an unprecedentedly small signal the primordial gravity wave component of the polarisation field B-mode. To achieve this, they will analyse huge datasets, involving years worth of timeordered data (TOD) from massively multi-detector focal planes. This creates the need for fast and precise methods to complement the M...

A Simple and Robust Destriping Algorithm for Imaging Spectrometers: Application to Modis Data

Images provided by several imaging spectrometers are often contaminated with stripes. This artifact compromises the visual quality and radiometric integrity of measured data. Although a large number of destriping algorithms have been recently suggested, most of them provide results that display residual stripes if not strong distortion from the original signal. To overcome this issue, we introd...

Destriping CMB temperature and polarization maps

We study destriping as a map-making method for temperature-and-polarization data for cosmic microwave background observations. We present a particular implementation of destriping and study the residual error in output maps, using simulated data corresponding to the 70 GHz channel of the Planck satellite, but assuming idealized detector and beam properties. The relevant residual map is the diff...

Effects of Destriping Errors on CMB Polarisation Power Spectra and and Pixel Noise Covariances

Low frequency detector noise in CMB experiments must be corrected to produce faithful maps of the temperature and polarization anisotropies. For a Planck-type experiment the low frequency noise corrections lead to residual stripes in the maps. Here I show that for a ring torus and idealised detector geometry it is possible to calculate analytically the effects of destriping errors on the temper...

Regularization destriping of remote sensing imagery

We illustrate the utility of variational destriping for ocean color images from both multispectral and hyperspectral sensors. In particular, we examine data from a filter spectrometer, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi National Polar Partnership (NPP) orbiter, and an airborne grating spectrometer, the Jet Population Laboratory’s (JPL) hyperspectral Portable Remo...
